About this item

  • I've seen some pro setups that have home-built stands that are just massive... rock-solid... very heavy, yet roll-around-able. Neewer has a good reputation, so this stand should also be OK for most professionals while being an excellent piece of equipment for the serious amateur.
  • Also, there are plastic inserts in the ends of the legs that help to keep nice flooring from being scratched, but they are inserted squarely into the legs. The result is that only a sliver of the plug contacts the floor, and it's likely that the plastic will wear out long before any other part of this tripod fails. A better quality piece of equipment would have inserts that pivot to fully rest on the floor at any angle formed by the legs.
  • My only additional comment is the absence of instructions or contact information. The only item included was a small card cautioning about the clamps.
  • ', it says "Made of 100% tough stainless steel". Well, maybe. Maybe not... The connection and locking joints, the metal strips between the legs and the bottom support, as well as the knobs, don't look like stainless steel to me. They don't look like aluminum, either. They may be some kind of alloy that's *nearly* stainless, but I'm just being suspicious.
  • It is heavy. That's good. A studio light stand isn't meant to be mobile. Put something on it and it stays in that place. I'm impressed with the high quality and (actually) a great price.
